Forming the Sacramental Imagination: Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

What is it?

Liturgical and sacramental catechesis presumes a renewal of our biblical, liturgical, and moral imaginations. In this three year program, catechetical and diocesan leaders will develop an approach to liturgical and sacramental catechesis grounded in the methodological principles of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. Not intended to replace national-level formation opportunities, this event will gather leaders of CGS, parish catechists, and theological educators to think through what constitutes a sacramental pedagogy in the parish, in the atrium, and even in the classroom. Participants in these study days will be formed to renew catechesis throughout the parish, school, and family through closer contact with biblical and sacramental sources.

When is it?

  • June 26-30, 2017: The Senses of the Scripture
  • June 25-29, 2018: Liturgy and the Participation in Sacred History
  • June 24-28, 2019: The Sacramental Nature of the Moral Life

Who is invited?

This program is designed for CGS trained catechists, parish catechists using other methods beside CGS, high school theology teachers looking to incorporate contemplative practice in the classroom, and parents wanting assistance in the religious formation of their children.
