The Presentation of the Child Jesus in the Temple, by Daniel Mitsui
Bordering the central scene, in the four corners are: an abbot and his monks; the presentation of a veil to a nun; the presentation of a crosier to an abbot; the presentation of a ring to an abbess. Other border scenes are: the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary; the Visitation; the Nativity of St. John the Baptist; the Nativity of Christ; the Annunciation to the Shepherds; the Circumcision of Christ; the Adoration of the Magi; the Flight into Egypt; the Massacre of the Innocents; and the Fall of the Idols of Hermopolis. Between these are drawings of the twelve patriarchs holding candles. This drawing was commissioned for use as an illustration for an interim English-language edition of the Roman Pontifical soon to be published by the Vox Clara Committee, and it appears with the permission of the artist (website: danielmitsui.com).

Almighty ever-living God,
we humbly implore your majesty, that just as your Only Begotten Son was presented on this day in the Temple in the substance of our flesh, so, by your grace, we may be presented to you with minds made pure.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.

-Collect for the Feast of the Presentation
