Cardinal Francis Arinze, prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, blessed the offices of Adoremus and Women for Faith & Family on Saturday afternoon, November 11,2006. He was accompanied by Archbishop Raymond Burke, who also participated in the prayer ceremony dedicating the organizations’ offices on Dale Avenue in Saint Louis.
In his homily, Cardinal Arinze stressed the importance of Catholic publications in transmitting accurate information about the Church and her teachings, and in faithfully transmitting the light of Christ’s truth. Concluding the office of prayers, the cardinal sprinkled each room with Holy water.
Following the ceremony, he received a tribute in gratitude for his service to the Church, presented by Helen Hull Hitchcock, editor of Adoremus Bulletin, the monthly liturgical journal published by Adoremus, and president of Women for Faith & Family and editor its quarterly magazine, Voices.
About forty people attended the office blessing ceremony and the reception following.
Cardinal Arinze was in St. Louis to address the Gateway Liturgical Conference held November 9-11, 2006. He also celebrated Mass at the Cathedral Basilica on Sunday.
